Hanna Sobachko-Shostak

(1883–1965) Master of decorative painting.
The artist was originally from the village of Skoptsi (now Veselinivka, Kyiv region), a well-known center of folk art. It was in Skoptsy in 1910 that landowner Anastasia Semigradova and artist Yevgenia Prybylska opened an educational and demonstration carpet workshop, where Anna Feodosiivna was also involved.
H. Sobachko-Shostak grew up on the soil of folk culture, but her creativity was greatly influenced by new searches for the interpretation of ornament, and her works remained closely connected with Poltava carpets and embroideries.
Anna Sobachko-Shostak’s life in art lasted more than half a century, the artist’s works were exhibited at more than 40 exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad, starting from 1913.
