Sonia Delaunay

In the memoirs of the avant-garde artist, it is written that she loved bright colours — the colours of her childhood, the colours of Ukraine. She was born in Odessa, but when she was five she became an orphan and moved to live with her uncle.

She received a good education, travelled widely in Europe, visited museums, and decided to devote her life to art, eventually settling in Paris. In 1963 Sonia donated her works to the Louvre, becoming the first artist to have a personal exhibition held there.
