Marfa Tymchenko

decorative painter, folk artist · 1922–2009

Marfa devoted her creative life to folk easel graphics, decorative and monumental painting, paintings on porcelain and wood, and textiles. She was born in the homeland of Petrykivka painting — the village of Petrykivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region — where she took her first steps, and at 16 came to Kyiv to study at the folk workshops.

She worked at the Kyiv Ceramic Plant, and one of the great achievements of her heritage was the decoration of the Kazka toy store on Velyka Vasylkivska Street in Kyiv.
